-
- I cant see any real reason why the CD32 could not compete if developers
- were encouraged to code for it. And I dont mean just taking a straight
- Amiga game stuck on a CD but actually using the machines capabilities.
-
- Although some High Profile Amiga games simply put on CD would be a help
- (ie how about some of the Disney games such as Alladin or Lion King)
- I know they are not startling games but they are better than nothing and
- would certainly tempt more Parents such as my self to buy such a machine
- as well as the expansion capabilities it for adding FMV or converting
- into a 1200 with a SX32 unit.
-
-
- In our home we have the following Machines a basic 8bit Nintendo, A
- Sega Mega Drive, A basic unexpanded Amiga 1200, and a CD32
-
- I have three children who like playing computer games and have to say
- that thier first choice of gaming platform is the Sega but only because
- of the speed that the game loads from the cartridge
-
- They prefer the CD32 and 1200 because the games are so much cheaper they
- can afford to save up and buy themselves. Unlike the Sega games.
-
- Now as I understand it both the playstation & saturn simply have double
- speed CDs the same as the Cd32 so thats one advantage taken care of.
-
- Granted these machines probably have more memory and faster processors
- but I dont actually know (Can anyone do a technical comparison please )
-
- But surely one the problems holding the amiga back is that a lot of games
- houses are still developing code which for economic reasons has to run on
- old Amiga 500s with only 512 k of ram
-
- Rather than going for games which will only run on a AGA 1200 with 2mb
- ram or more.
-
- As the take of CDS on the amiga scene gets more and more I if I was a
- developer of games software would be seriously looking at issuing games
- on CD only if only to reduce the amount of Piracy but also it must give
- developers much more scope for the level of detail needed for games such
- as the daytona racing game on the saturn ??

- I could not agree more I could not understand why Escom did not churn out
- CD32s last christmas and give developers lots of support for developing
- or porting games from other platforms to take advantage of the Amiga
- system.
-
- I doubt that people are that intrested really in the faboulus scenery
- backgournds etc of games what matteres is the playability of the game.
-
- An excellent example of that is the game WORMS which I expect to be one
- of the games of 1996 yet it was originally coded in Blitz Basic on an
- AMiga.
-
- I have played it on an AMiga, a cd32 and a Windows 95 machine which had a
- pentium a sound card and 16mb of ram which left little change out of 2000
- UK Pounds
-
- But it was actually far easier to play and sounded better on the cd32 or
- the 1200 both of which costed far less than the PC
-
- Sorry for going on so long
-
-
- best wishes
